Description
Nonmuscle Myosin II Heavy Chain Isoform A (MHCA, NMHC IIA, Myosin-9) is a member of the myosin family. Myosin II (also known as conventional myosin) is the myosin type responsible for producing muscle contraction in muscle cells. Myosin II contains two heavy chains (MHC), each about 2000 amino acids in length, which constitute the head and tail domains. It also contains 4 light chains (MLC), which bind the heavy chains in the 'neck' region between the head and tail. There are 3 forms of myosin II: IIA, IIB and IIC.
