GST (Glutathione S-Transferase) enzymes, a family of isozymes plays a crucial role in body defense mechanisms against toxins and carcinogens. GSTs carry out their functions mostly by mediating their conjugation with reduced glutathione on substrates such as pharmaceutical and environmental pollutants. The SensoLyte® GST Activity Assay Kit utilizes an optimized method for detection of enzyme activity in biological samples. The kit provides substrate for GST enzyme, which upon reaction with reduced glutathione yields a fluorescent glutathione adduct. This produces bright blue fluorescence that can be monitored at excitation/emission =390 nm/480 nm.
