Description
Caspase-1 is the best-described inflammatory caspase. It processes the cytokines interleukin-1beta (IL-1beta) and IL-18 and induces pyroptotic cell death. Caspase-1 is activated by multiprotein complexes called inflammasomes in response to numerous stimuli that are detected through distinct inflammasomes. NLRC4 responds to cytosolic flagellin, murine NLRP1b responds to anthrax lethal toxin, AIM2 responds to cytosolic DNA and NLRP3 responds to a variety of agonists including crystals.

Applications:
Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilution:
Western Blot: 1ug/ml. (no need to precipitate the cell supernatant for the detection of caspase-1 (mouse) upon inflammasome activation)
Optimal dilutions to be determined by researcher.

Storage and Stability:
Store product at 4°C if to be used immediately within two weeks. For long-term storage, aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing and store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable at -20°C for 12 months after receipt. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
