Description
GAD65 catalyzes the formation of gamma-aminobutyric acid from L-glutamic acid. It is an autoantigen in type I diabetes and is transiently activated in response to the demand for extra GABA in neurotransmission. It cycles between an active holo form and an inactive apo form. The gene on chromosome 10p12 is a candidate for Human obesity. The cDNA encodes a Mr 65, 000 polypeptide, with 585aa residues. The pathogenic role for this enzyme has been identified in the Human pancreas since it has been identified as an autoantibody and an autoreactive T cell target in insulin-dependent diabetes.

Applications:
Suitable for use in Western Blot. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilution:
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
