Description
Epitope tags have application in the labeling, isolation and detection of proteins using immunoblotting, Immunoprecipitation and immunostaining techniques. By affinity chromatography, epitope tags can be used to separate recombinant, overexpressed protein from wild-type protein expressed by the host organism. The protein’s biochemical properties seem to not be affected by the tag protein probably due its small size. FLAG-tag, or FLAG octapeptide, a polypeptide consisting of eight aa’s (DYKDDDDK) can be added to a protein using recombinant DNA technology; therefore, the tag can be detected with the fused protein in many different assays that require recognition by an antibody.

Applications:
Suitable for use in Immunohistochemistry, Dot Blot, ELISA, Western Blot and Immunoprecipitation. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilutions:
Immunohistochemistry: 1:500-1:2000
Western Blot: 1:1000-1:3000
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
Lyophilized and reconstituted products are stable for 12 months after receipt at -20°C. Reconstitute with sterile ddH2O. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer.
