Immunogen
Synthetic acetylpeptide corresponding to Lys40 of human alpha-tubulin. Species sequence homology: xenopus
Specificity
Recognizes human alpha-tubulin only when acetylated at Lys40. This aa is not conserved in B-tubulin. Species Crossreactivity: mouse, monkey, rat, zebrafish
Description
The cytoskeleton consists of three types of cytosolic fibers: microtubules, microfilaments (actin filaments), and intermediate filaments. Globular tubulin subunits comprise the microtubule building block, with alpha/B-tubulin heterodimers forming the tubulin subunit common to all eukaryotic cells. gamma-tubulin is required to nucleate polymerization of tubulin subunits to form microtubule polymers. Many cell movements are mediated by microtubule action, including the beating of cilia and flagella, cytoplasmic transport of membrane vesicles, chromosome alignment during meiosis/mitosis, and nerve-cell axon migration. These movements result from competitive microtubule polymerization and depolymerization or through the actions of microtubule motor proteins.

Applications:
Suitable for use in Immunofluorescence, Immunocytochemistry and Flow Cytometry. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilutions:
Immunofluorescence (IF-IC): 1:50
Flow Cytometry: 1:50
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
Store product at 4°C in the dark. DO NOT FREEZE! Stable at 4°C for 12 months after receipt as an undiluted liquid. Dilute required amount only prior to immediate use. Further dilutions can be made in assay buffer. Caution: Alexa Fluor® conjugates are sensitive to light. Freezing Alexa Fluor® conjugates will result in a substantial loss of activity. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial prior to removing the cap.
