Specificity
Recognizes native and heat denatured human Collagen Type IV. Antiserum was passed over immobilized human blood plasma proteins and human collagen types I, III and V. Human plasma does not interfere with binding to collagen. Species Crossreactivity: collagen types I, III and V; <10%; human collagen II; <1%.
Description
The collagen family is composed of several chain types, including fibril-forming interstitial collagens (types I, II, III and V) and basement membrane collagens (type IV), each type containing multiple isoforms. Collagens are fibrous, extracellular matrix proteins with high tensile strength and are the major components of connective tissue, such as tendons and cartilage. All collagens contain a triple helix domain and frequently show lateral selfassociation in order to form complex connective tissues. Several collagens also play a role in cell adhesion, important for maintaining normal tissue architecture and function, such as bone strength and platelet activation.

Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA, Dot and Slot Blot, Indirect Immunofluorescence and Indirect Immunohistochemistry. Not recommended on Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested.

Recommended Dilutions:
ELISA: 1:3000
Immunofluorescence (Indirect): 1:20-1:40
Immunohistochemistry (Indirect): 1:20-1:40. Use frozen or acetone fixed specimens (paraffin not recommended)
Dot/Slot Blot: 1:300
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.
