Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein

Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein is a 52kD intermediate filament protein. Expressed by astrocytes and to a lesser degree by ependymal cells, folliculost­ellate cells of the anterior pituary and cerebellar radial glia. Does not react with other intermediate filaments.

Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA, Western Blot, Immunohistochemistry and Immunocytochemistry. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilution:
Immunohistochemistry: Frozen and paraffin
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Controls:
Positive on dibutyryl camp stimulated human glioma cell line U333 CG/343 MG and in pig brain lysate. Negative in rat glioma cell line C6 and mouse brain lysate.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months after receipt. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
