Recombinant corresponding to human leptin.

Human Leptin is an 167aa residue, ~16kD, adipocyte derived, secreted protein. Human Leptin was cloned, expressed in E. coli and purified. The purity of Leptin is greater than 95% as determined by SDS-PAGE. The identity of protein has been confirmed by N-terminal sequence analyses. Endotoxin level in the final preparation is less than 1pg/ug of murine Leptin. Mouse leptin is about 85% homologous with human Leptin. Purified human Leptin has been shown to be biologically active in reducing body weight, food consumption, and plasma glucose levels in ob/ob and NZO mice.

Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA. Western Blot, though not tested, may potentially be used as an application. Other applications not tested.

Recommended Dilution:
ELISA: 1:5000-1:30, 000 (10-100ng of Leptin protein/well)
Western Blot: 1:2000-1:10, 000 (chemiluminescence)
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for at least 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap.
