Specificity
Recognizes the alpha subunit of tubulin, specifically binding tyrosylated Tubulin (Tyr-Tubulin) (2). Epitope: appears to be a linear sequence requiring an aromatic residue at the C terminus, with the two adjacent amino acids being negatively charged (represented by Glu-Glu-Tyr in Tyr-Tubulin). Species crossreactivity: mammals, birds, Echinoderm.
Description
The antibody has been used in epitope tagging procedures to detect proteins tagged with a C-terminal Gly-Gly-Phe epitope. These sequence requirements have been reported to result in some cross-reactivity with other proteins in certain circumstances, including E. coli rec A and oxidized actin (5).

Applications:
Suitable for use in ELISA, Immunohistochemistry and Western Blot. Other applications have not been tested.

Recommended Dilutions:
Western Blot: 1:100-1:1000. Suitable for use as a loading control.
Optimal dilutions to be determined by the researcher.

Storage and Stability:
May be stored at 4°C for short-term only. Aliquot to avoid repeated freezing and thawing. Store at -20°C. Aliquots are stable for 12 months. For maximum recovery of product, centrifuge the original vial after thawing and prior to removing the cap. Labeled with horseradish peroxidase (HRP). Sodium azide is a potent inhibitor of peroxidase and should not be added to HRP conjugates. HRP conjugates are sensitive to light.
