Bio Background	Fractalkine is a transmembrane protein and chemokineinvolved in the adhesion and migration of leukocytes. The proteinencoded by this gene is a receptor for fractalkine. The encodedprotein also is a coreceptor for HIV-1, and some variations in thisgene lead to increased susceptibility to HIV-1 infection and rapidprogression to AIDS. Four transcript variants encoding twodifferent isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided byRefSeq].
