Bio Background	In vertebrates, the genes encoding the class oftranscription factors called homeobox genes are found in clustersnamed A, B, C, and D on four separate chromosomes. Expression ofthese proteins is spatially and temporally regulated duringembryonic development. This gene is part of a cluster on chromosome6 and encodes a DNA-binding transcription factor that may regulategene expression, morphogenesis, and differentiation. Morespecifically, it may function in fertility, embryo viability, andregulation of hematopoietic lineage commitment. Alternativelyspliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have beendescribed.
