Guinea pig antibody to Catalase

FUNCTION: Occurs in almost all aerobically respiring organisms and serves to protect cells from the toxic effects of hydrogen peroxide. Promotes growth of cells including T-cells, B-cells, myeloid leukemia cells, melanoma cells, mastocytoma cells and normal and transformed fibroblast cells.
Defects in CAT are the cause of acatalasia (ACATLAS); also known as acatalasemia. This disease is characterized by absence of catalase activity in red cells and is often associated with ulcerating oral lesions.
SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Peroxisome

IHC, WB. A dilution of 1: 2000 is recommended for IHC-P and 1: 4000 for WB. The optimal dilution should be determined by the end user. Not yet tested in other applications.

A synthetic peptide from mouse Catalase conjugated to blue carrier protein was used as the antigen. The antigen is homologous in many other species including rat, human, marmoset, zebrafish, xenopus and guinea pig.
