Background	Phosphomannose isomerase catalyzes the interconversion offructose-6-phosphate and mannose-6-phosphate and plays a criticalrole in maintaining the supply of D-mannose derivatives, which arerequired for most glycosylation reactions. Mutations in the MPIgene were found in patients with carbohydrate-deficientglycoprotein syndrome, type Ib.
