Protein Function	Responsible for the deacetylation of lysine residues on the N-terminal part of the core histones (H2A, H2B, H3 and H4). Histone deacetylation gives a tag for epigenetic repression and plays an important role in transcriptional regulation, cell cycle progression and developmental events. Represses MEF2-dependent transcription.

Description	The HDAC9 Cell-Based ELISA Kit is a convenient, lysate-free, high throughput and sensitive assay kit that can monitor HDAC9 protein expression profile in cells. The kit can be used for measuring the relative amounts of HDAC9 in cultured cells as well as screening for the effects that various treatments, inhibitors (ie. siRNA or chemicals), or activators have on HDAC9.
Tissue Specificity	Broadly expressed, with highest levels in brain, heart, muscle and testis. Isoform 3 is present in human bladder carcinoma cells (at protein level).
