Protein Function	Endopeptidase that degrades various components of the extracellular matrix such as collagen. Activates progelatinase A. Essential for pericellular collagenolysis and modeling of skeletal and extraskeletal connective tissues during development (By similarity). May be involved in actin cytoskeleton reorganization by cleaving PTK7 (PubMed:20837484). Acts as a positive regulator of cell growth and migration via activation of MMP15. Involved in the formation of the fibrovascular tissues in association with pro-MMP2 (PubMed:12714657). Cleaves ADGRB1 to release vasculostatin-40 which inhibits angiogenesis (PubMed:22330140).
Subcellular Localization	Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein. Melanosome. Cytoplasm. Identified by mass spectrometry in melanosome fractions from stage I to stage IV. Forms a complex with BST2 and localizes to the cytoplasm.
Description	The MMP-14 Cell-Based ELISA Kit is a convenient, lysate-free, high throughput and sensitive assay kit that can monitor MMP-14 protein expression profile in cells. The kit can be used for measuring the relative amounts of MMP-14 in cultured cells as well as screening for the effects that various treatments, inhibitors (ie. siRNA or chemicals), or activators have on MMP-14.
