Protein Function	Inhibits translation initiation and cap-dependent translation. May excert its function by hindering the interaction between EIF4A1 and EIF4G. Inhibits the helicase activity of EIF4A. Modulates the activation of JUN kinase. Down-regulates the expression of MAP4K1, thus inhibiting events important in driving invasion, namely, MAPK85 activation and consequent JUN-dependent transcription. May play a role in apoptosis. Tumor suppressor. Inhibits tumor promoter-induced neoplastic transformation. Binds RNA (By similarity).
Subcellular Localization	Nucleus. Cytoplasm. Shuttles between the nucleus and cytoplasm (By similarity). Predominantly nuclear under normal growth conditions, and when phosphorylated at Ser-457 (PubMed:16357133).
Description	The PDCD4 (Phospho-Ser67) Cell-Based ELISA Kit is a convenient, lysate-free, high throughput and sensitive assay kit that can monitor PDCD4 (Phospho-Ser67) protein expression profile in cells. The kit can be used for measuring the relative amounts of PDCD4 (Phospho-Ser67) in cultured cells as well as screening for the effects that various treatments, inhibitors (ie. siRNA or chemicals), or activators have on PDCD4 (Phospho-Ser67).
Tissue Specificity	Up-regulated in proliferative cells. Highly expressed in epithelial cells of the mammary gland. Reduced expression in lung cancer and colon carcinoma.
