Gene Full Name	Sterol regulatory element-binding protein 1
Protein Function	Transcriptional activator required for lipid homeostasis. Regulates transcription of the LDL receptor gene as well as the fatty acid and to a lesser degree the cholesterol synthesis pathway (By similarity). Binds to the sterol regulatory element 1 (SRE-1) (5'-ATCACCCCAC-3'). Has dual sequence specificity binding to both an E-box motif (5'-ATCACGTGA-3') and to SRE-1 (5'-ATCACCCCAC-3').
Subcellular Localization	Endoplasmic reticulum membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Golgi apparatus membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Cytoplasmic vesicle, COPII-coated vesicle membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Moves from the endoplasmic reticulum to the Golgi in the absence of sterols.
Short Description	The SREBP-1 (Phospho-Ser439) Cell-Based ELISA Kit is a convenient, lysate-free, high throughput and sensitive assay kit that can monitor SREBP-1 (Phospho-Ser439) protein expression profile in cells. The kit can be used for measuring the relative amounts of SREBP-1 (Phospho-Ser439) in cultured cells as well as screening for the effects that various treatments, inhibitors (ie. siRNA or chemicals), or activators have on SREBP-1 (Phospho-Ser439).
Description	The SREBP-1 (Phospho-Ser439) Cell-Based ELISA Kit is a convenient, lysate-free, high throughput and sensitive assay kit that can monitor SREBP-1 (Phospho-Ser439) protein expression profile in cells. Tissue Specificity	Expressed in a wide variety of tissues, most abundant in liver and adrenal gland. In fetal tissues lung and liver shows highest expression. Isoform SREBP-1C predominates in liver, adrenal gland and ovary, whereas isoform SREBP-1A predominates in hepatoma cell lines. Isoform SREBP-1A and isoform SREBP-1C are found in kidney, brain, white fat, and muscle.
