Description	Renin is an aspartyl protease that cleaves angiotensinogen to form angiotensin I, which is converted to angiotensin II by angiotensin I converting enzyme, an important regulator of blood pressure and electrolyte balance. Renin is secreted by at least 2 cellular pathways: a constitutive pathway for the secretion of Prorenin and a regulated pathway for the secretion of mature Renin.
