Application Notes
For use in flow cytometry: 0.05 ug - 0.2 ug of streptavidin is recommended per 106 cells in 100 ul staining volume. It is necessary to determine the optimum for each assay system.
Description
Streptavidin binds to biotin with high affinity (10-15 M). When conjugated to fluorochromes, streptavidin is a potent second step reagent used to detect primary, biotinylated antibodies.
Formulation
1 ml Streptavidin FITC conjugated in 2 times concentrated PBS with 1 mg Streptavidin and 0.1% sodium azide. EIA-grade BSA has been added to bring the final protein concentration to 4-5 mg/ml. Precaution: Sodium azide is a poisonous and hazardous substance which should be handled by trained staff only.
Storage and Stability
Streptavidin FITC should be stored in the dark at 2-8C. If the reagent is being diluted, it is recommended that only the quantity to be used within one week be diluted
