ACAT2 is an integral membrane protein that localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum of human intestinal cells. ACAT2 deficiency contributes to severe mental retardation and hypotonus. Recombinant Human Acetyl-Coenzyme A Acetyltransferase 2 is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 433 amino acids (1-397). It is fused to a 36 amino acid His tag at N-terminus.
