Storage Conditions	The lyophilized FGF-5 is best-stored desiccated below 0C. Reconstituted FGF-5 should be stored in working aliquots at -20C. Freeze/thaw cycles will result in significant loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.

Description	Fibroblast Growth Factor-5 is a heparin binding growth factor which stimulates the proliferation and activation of cells that express FGF receptors. Human FGF-5 is a 27.5 kDa protein containing 252 amino acid residues.
Formulation	Sterile filtered and lyophilized from PBS, pH 7.2.
Reconstitution	Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. The human FGF-5 should be reconstituted in 1 x PBS, pH 7.2 to a concentration of 0.5-1.0 mg/ml. This solution can be diluted in water or other buffer solutions or stored at -20C. For most, in vitro, applications, FGF-5 exerts its biological activity in the concentration range of 0.1 to 20.0 ng/ml.
Biological Activity	The ED50 determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of thymidine uptake by BaF3 cells expressing FGF receptors is 0.5-1.0 ng/ml.
