Storage Conditions
This lyophilized preparation is stable at 2-4C, but should be kept desiccated at -20C for long term storage. Upon reconstitution, the preparation is stable for up to one week at 2-4C. For maximal stability, apportion the reconstituted preparation into working aliquots and store at -20C to -80C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Molecular Weight
14.1 kDa
Description
Interleukin 9, also known as IL9, is a cytokine (cell signalling molecule) belonging to the group of interleukins. The protein encoded by this gene is a cytokine produced by T-cells and specifically by CD4+ helper cells that acts as a regulator of a variety of hematopoietic cells. This cytokine stimulates cell proliferation and prevents apoptosis. It functions through the interleukin-9 receptor (IL9R), which activates different signal transducer and activator (STAT) proteins and thus connects this cytokine to various biological processes. The gene encoding this cytokine has been identified as a candidate gene for asthma. Genetic studies on a mouse model of asthma demonstrated that this cytokine is a determining factor in the pathogenesis of bronchial hyperresponsiveness.
Formulation
Lyophilized from a 0.2 um filtered concentrated solution in PBS, pH 7.4.
Reconstitution
Centrifuge vial prior to opening. Add sterile distilled water or aqueous buffer to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. Further dilutions should be made in appropriate buffered solutions.
Specificity
>5.0 x 10E6 IU/mg.
Biological Activity
Fully biologically active when compared to standard. The ED50 determined by a cell proliferation assay using human MO7e cells is less than 0.2 ng/ml.
Endotoxin Level
Less than 1EU/ug of rHuIL-9 as determined by LAL method.
