Storage Conditions
Lyophilized recombinant human IGF-II, although stable at room temperature, should be stored desiccated at -20C. Upon reconstitution, recombinant human IGF-II should be stored in working aliquots at -20C. For long term storage, it is recommended that a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA) should be added to the solution. This depends upon the particular application employed. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
Molecular Weight
7.5 kDa
Description
Insulin like Growth Factor II, IGF-II, is a major growth hormone made by Theca cells during gestation. While IGF-II is known to engage the IGF-I receptor (IGF1R) to mediate embryonic growth, IGF-II is also known to bind the IGF-II receptor (IGF2R), which is thought to be signaling dead receptor that acts as a sink by binding up free IGF-II. Recombinant Human IGF-II is non-glycosylated protein containing 67 amino acids and having a MW = 7.5 kDa.
Formulation
Sterile filtered white lyophilized powder with no additives
Reconstitution
Centrifuge vial prior to opening. When reconstituting the product, gently pipet and wash down the sides of the vial to ensure full recovery of the protein into solution. It is recommended to reconstitute the lyophilized product with sterile water at a concentration of 0.1 mg/ml, which can be further diluted into other aqueous solutions.
Biological Activity
The activity is determined by the dose dependent proliferation of FDC-P1 cells and is typically 1.5-6 ng/ml.
Endotoxin Level
Less than <0.01 ng/ug or <0.1 EU/ug.
