Biological Activity
For most, in vitro, applications, apo-SAA exerts its biological activity in the concentration range of 10.0-50.0 ug/ml.
Description
Human apo-SAA is a 104 amino acid polypeptide that circulates primarily in association with high-density lipoproteins (HDL). The level of apo-SAA, normally 1-5 ug/ml in plasma, increases 500-1000 fold within 24 hours of an inflammatory stimulus and, under these conditions, is the most abundant HDL apo-lipoprotein. The human SAA gene codes for a 122 amino acid polypeptide, which contains an 18 amino acid N-terminal signal sequence.
Endotoxin Level
<0.1 ng/ug of protein
Formulation
Lyophilized from a sterile filtered solution without additives.
Molecular Weight
ca.11.5 kDa.
Reconstitution
Centrifuge the vial prior to opening. Reconstitute in 0.1% acetic acid to a concentration of 1 ug/ul. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at 2-4C for 1 week or -20C for future use.
Storage and Stability
Best kept desiccated below 0C. After reconstitution, store in working aliquots at -20C. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
