Description
Native Human Alpha fetoprotein. Human alpha Fetoprotein (AFP) is a protein that is normally only produced in the fetus during its development. Human Alpha fetoprotein measurement during pregnancy has been useful to detect certain abnormalities specifically if high levels of Human AFP are found in amniotic fluid it can indicate a developmental defect in the baby. Human Alpha-fetoprotein is also found at high levels in the plasma and ascitic fluid of adults with hepatoma
