Description
Recombinant HIV-1 gp41 Strain IIIB is a non-glycosylated 288 aa polypeptide chain comprising aa 466-753 fused to a-Galactosidase at the N- terminus. HIV-1 gp41, also known as prehairpin fusion intermediate (PFI), plays a critical role in viral fusion and entry of HIV into CD4+ cells and represents a potential target for anti-viral therapeutics and vaccine development because of its function as a transient viral entry intermediate.
Formulation
Sterile filtered colorless clear solution containing 20 mM Tris HCl, pH 8.0, + 8 M urea + 10 mM a-mercaptoethanol.
Specificity
Immunoreactive with all sera of HIV-I infected individuals.
Endotoxin Level
< 0.1 ng/ug of protein.
