Description	The synthetic peptide PKTPKKAKKL can be used as a substrate for Cdk5 (cyclin-dependent kinase 5) for, in vitro, kinase assays. It is phosphorylated by Cdk5 with a Km of 6 uM. Cdk5 is predominantly active in the nervous system and plays an essential role in neuronal development. Aberrant Cdk5 activity has been reported in neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer´s disease, amylotrophic lateral sclerosis and Parkinsons´s disease.
