Origin:
The cell line was established in 1960 from the trypsinised testis of a normal 80-90 day old porcine foetus. The cells support the growth and therefore propagation, assay and isolation of various porcine parvo-virus (PPV) and entero-viruses, and also pseudorabies virus. Also useful in the propagation and isolation of transmissible gastro-enteritis (TGE) induced by enteroviruses of swine.

Subculture:
When 70-80% confluent using 0.25% trypsin or trypsin/EDTA, subculture at 1:3 to 1:8; feed cells 2 to 3 times weekly. Culture at 5% CO2, 37C.
Freezing Medium:
Complete culture medium supplemented with 5% (v/v) DMSO
