Background	Immune reactions to type V collagen may play a role in allograft rejection following organ transplant. Lung transplant patients who have who were previously sensitized to type V collagen and were positive for type V collagen delayed hypersensitivity (DTH) reactions are more likely to develop idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis than patients who were nedative for type V collagen DTH reactions.
