Description	Bile Salt Export Pump (BSEP, also known as ABCB11) belongs to the ATP-binding cassette (ABC) transporters, which takes part in transporting bile acid, taurocholate, and other cholate conjugates across the hepatocyte canalicular membrane into the canaliculus. Although mostly expressed in the liver, traces have also been reported in the kidney. In humans, BSEP activity is the most important factor in controlling bile formation and flow.
