Description
h Glycated Albumin is a protein purified by sequential ion-exchange and affinity chromatography. NGA is albumin that is glycated in vivo; it is isolated from human plasma. SGA is albumin that glycated in vitro, after short-term incubation with glucose, and subsequently purified. The preparations are pure by SDS-PAGE and agarose gel electrophoresis, and have 0.3-1.5 glyco-groups per mole of albumin. NGA and SGA are immunoreactive in microplate based ELISAs and in Western Blots designed to detect albumin or glycoalbumin. When diluted appropriately, h glycated Albumin shows a dose-response identical to that of fresh human plasma in Glycaben (Exocell Catalogue #1003). The material is suitable for use as a primary standard in immunoassay methods.
HSA, a related product, is deglycated-albumin. It serves as a negative control in immunochemical procedure's that detect glycoalbumin.
These products are supplied in liquid or lyophilized forms.
