ECL Chemiluminescence Western Blot Detection (PCD) Kit Overview
The horseradish peroxidase (HRP)-catalyzed enhanced chemiluminescence method is commonly known as the ECL detection method for Western blots. Proteins in Western blots are recognized by specific primary antibodies, which are in turn detected by a secondary antibodies coupled to horse-radish peroxidase (HRP). In the ECL reaction, HRP catalyzes luminol oxidation in the presence of peroxidase and enhancer. The resulting luminescence that corresponds to protein bands in Western blots is detected on film or by a CCD camera.

ECL Chemiluminescence Detection Kit: Protocol Synopsis
To detect protein bands transferred to PVDF or nitrocellulose membrane, premix solution A, which contains the peroxidase substrate, luminol and enhancer, with the peroxide solution B. Incubate the membrane with the premixed solution for one minute. Bright luminescence will be emitted that can be captured on film or a CCD camera.
