Specificity:
FELINE IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS p24 gag
Isotype:
IgG1
Clone:
P24CR1
Specificity Note:
This product recognises a p24 epitope of feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) p24 gag distinct from the p24 epitope recognised by 20-783-71840. The lentivirus FIV responsible for a progressive and debilitating immune deficiency syndrome in domestic cats similar to that caused by the human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a complex retrovirus with a tightly-packed genome containing the structural genes gag env and pro-pol and the accessory genes vif rev and ORF-A/2. This product does not recognise Feline Leukaemia Virus (FeLV) Feline Herpes Virus (FHV) type 1 Feline Coronavirus or Feline Calicivirus. This product can be used as a capture reagent in ELISA assays in combination with 20-783-74825 as a detection reagent.
Preparation:
Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography on Protein A from tissue culture supernatant
Buffer Solution:
Phosphate buffered saline pH7. 2
Preservative Stabilisers:
0. 05%Sodium Azide (NaN3) Suggested
Dilution:
Western Blot: This product detects a dominant band of approximately 24kDa under reducing conditions.
Function:
Matrix protein p15 forms the outer shell of the core of the virus lining the inner surface of the viral membrane (By similarity).
Function:
Capsid protein p24 forms the conical core of the virus that encapsulates the genomic RNA-nucleocapsid complex (By similarity).
Function:
Nucleocapsid protein p13 encapsulates and protects viral dimeric unspliced (genomic) RNA. Binds these RNAs through its zinc fingers (By similarity).
Subcellular Location:
Matrix protein p15: Virion (Potential).
Subcellular Location:
Capsid protein p24: Virion (Potential).
Subcellular Location:
Nucleocapsid protein p13: Virion (Potential).
Similarity:
Belongs to the feline lentivirus group gag polyprotein family.
Similarity:
Contains 2 CCHC-type zinc fingers. 1. Lerner. D. L. et al. (1995) Increased mutation frequency of Feline Immunodeficiency Virus lacking functional deoxyuridine-triphosphatase. 2. Chatterji. U. et al.
