Immunogen:
Synthetic peptide: C-terminal domain of human Thyrotropin-releasing hormone receptor conjugated to Keyhole Limpet Hemocyanin (KLH).
Specificity:
Detects thyrotropin-releasing hormone receptor (TRHR) a G protein-coupled receptor which binds the tripeptide thyrotropin releasing hormone (TRH). TRH is a hypothalamic neuropeptide that controls the synthesis and release of prolactin and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH) from the anterior pituitary gland. TRHR is widely distributed in the central nervous system but also plays an important role in central cardiovascular regulation; as hypertensive patients have a blunted TSH response suggesting a defect in TSH release mediated by TRHR activation. Recommended Secondary Antibodies: Sheep Anti Rabbit IgGGoat Anti Rabbit IgG (Fc)Goat Anti Rabbit IgG (H/L)
Function:
Receptor for thyrotropin-releasing hormone. This receptor is mediated by G proteins which activate a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system. Subcellular locationCell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Sequence similaritiesBelongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family. 1. Bradstock K. F. et al.
