Isotype:
Rat (Lewis) IgG2a kappa
Clone:
I21/7
Characterization:
To insure optimal performance each batch of product is tested by flow cytometry to conform to characteristics of a standard reference reagent. Representative flow data are shown on page two of this product insert.
Specificity:
subunit (Mr 180 kDa) of LFA-1The monoclonal antibody I21/7 reacts with the subunit of mouse CD11a also known as Leukocyte Function-associated Antigen-1 (LFA-1) and a member of the integrin family of cell adhesion molecules. 1 2 The antigen is expressed on thymocytes T and B lymphocytes and on non-lymphoid cells in the bone marrow. 2 CD11a appears to be an essential component for T-cell activation by antigen-presenting cells and is important for cell-mediated killing. Co-stimulatory signaling by LFA-1 is achieved by pairing with its ligand CD54/ICAM-1. 1 2
Working Dilution:
Flow Cytometry: 0. 2 ug/106 cells
Warning:
Reagents contain sodium azide. Sodium azide is very toxic if ingested or inhaled. Avoid contact with skin eyes or clothing. Wear eye or face protection when handling. If skin or eye contact occurs wash with copious amounts of water. If ingested or inhaled contact a physician immediately. Sodium azide yields toxic hydrazoic acid under acidic conditions. Dilute azide-containing compounds in running water before discarding to avoid accumulation of potentially explosive deposits in lead or copper plumbing.
Function:
Integrin alpha-L/beta-2 is a receptor for ICAM1 ICAM2 ICAM3 and ICAM4. It is involved in a variety of immune phenomena including leukocyte-endothelial cell interaction cytotoxic T-cell mediated killing and antibody dependent killing by granulocytes and monocytes.
Subunit:
Heterodimer of an alpha and a beta subunit. Alpha-L associates with beta-2.
Subcellular Location:
Membrane; Single-pass type I membrane protein.
Tissue Specificity:
Leukocytes.
Domain:
The integrin I-domain (insert) is a VWFA domain. Integrins with I-domains do not undergo protease cleavage.
Similarity:
Belongs to the integrin alpha chain family.
Similarity:
Contains 7 FG-GAP repeats.
Similarity:
Contains 1 VWFA domain. 1. Altin J. G. E. B. Pagler and C. R. Parrish. 1994. Eur. J. Immunol. 24:450. 2. Springer T. A. D. Davignon M. Ho K. Kurzinger E. Martz and F. Sanchez-Madrid. 1982. Immunol.
