Genway ID:
GWB-C6D0FB
Isotype:
IgG
Immunogen:
Synthetic peptide: DLANRFKEFGKKMVKL conjugated to KLH corresponding to amino acids 171-186 of Human alpha 2 Catenin.
Antigen Species:
Human
Specificity:
Anti-alpha-N-Catenin recognizes alpha-N-catenin (102 kDa) by immunoblotting. Staining of the alpha-N-catenin band in immunoblotting is specifically inhibited with the alpha-N-catenin immunizing peptide (human amino acids 171-186).
Target:
alpha 2 Catenin Storage
Preservative:
15mM Sodium Azide; Constituents: 0. 01M PBS. pH 7. 4
Application Note:
WB: Use at a dilution of 1/1000. Detects a band of approximately 102 kDa. Not tested in other applications. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user. The catenins (alpha beta and gamma) are cytoplasmic proteins found in varying abundance in many developing and adult tissues. Catenins bind directly or indirectly to the conserved cytoplasmic tail domain of the cell adhesion cadherins. The association of catenins to cadherins produces a complex which is linked to the actin filament network. Catenins/cadherin complexes play an important role in mediating cell adhesion transduction of cell-cell contact positional signals to the cell interior and may play a crucial role in cell differentiation. Alpha-Catenin (CAP102 102 kDa) originally described as an E-cadherin associated protein has been shown to associate with other members of the cadherin family members N-cadherin and P-cadherin.
Function:
Associates with the cytoplasmic domain of a variety of cadherins. The association of catenins to cadherins produces a complex which is linked to the actin filament network and which seems to be of primary importance for cadherins cell-adhesion properties. Can associate with both E- and N-cadherins. May play a crucial role in cell differentiation (By similarity).
Subunit:
Binds MLLT4 and F-actin. Interacts directly with CTNNB1 and PSEN1 to form part of the PSEN1/cadherin/catenin adhesion complex. Interacts with ARHGAP21 and with JUB (By similarity).
Subcellular Location:
Cytoplasm cytoskeleton (By similarity). Cell junction adherens junction (By similarity). Cell membrane; Peripheral membrane protein; Cytoplasmic side (By similarity). Cell junction (By similarity). Note=Found at cell-cell boundaries and probably at cell-matrix boundaries (By similarity).
Ptm:
Sumoylated (By similarity).
Similarity:
Belongs to the vinculin/alpha-catenin family.
