Specificity:
IL-6
Specificity:
IL-6
Immunogen:
Recombinant human IL-6
Specificity Note:
This product is specific for human IL-6 (Interleukin-6) a 184 amino acid multifunctional pro-inflammatory cytokine secreted by activated T cells macrophages endothelial cells fibroblasts and osteoblasts. The diverse biological properties of IL-6 include the principle inducer of the acute phase response in the liver stimulation of B cell differentiation and subsequent immunoglobulin production promotion of hybridoma growth regulation of bone metabolism and stimulation of energy mobilisation in muscle and fatty tissue. IL-6 signals through a membrane bound receptor complex consisting of the ligand-binding IL-6R? chain (CD126) and the signal-transducing component gp130 (CD130) but can also stimulate cells expressing gp130 through a soluble IL-6R.
Antiserum Preparation:
Antisera to human IL-6 were raised by repeated immunisations of rabbits with highly purified antigen. Purified IgG prepared by affinity chromatography.
Buffer Solution:
Phosphate buffered saline
Preservative Stabilisers:
None present
Reconstitution: Reconstitute with 1. 0ml sterile PBS containing 0. 1% Bovine Serum Albumin. Care should be taken during reconstitution as the protein may appear as a film at the bottom of the vial. It\' s recommended that the vial is gently mixed after reconstitution. For long term storage the addition of 0. 09% sodium azide is recommended. Suggested

ELISA - 0. 15 - 0. 30ug/mlWestern Blotting - 0. 1 - 0. 2ug/ml Summary: Albumin is a soluble monomeric protein which comprises about one-half of the blood serum protein. Albumin functions primarily as a carrier protein for steroids fatty acids and thyroid hormones and plays a role in stabilizing extracellular fluid volume. Mutations in this gene on chromosome 4 result in various anomalous proteins. Albumin is a globular unglycosylated serum protein of molecular weight 65 000. The human albumin gene is 16 961 nucleotides long from the putative \' cap\' site to the first poly(A) addition site. It is split into 15 exons which are symmetrically placed within the 3 domains that are thought to have arisen by triplication of a single primordial domain. Albumin is synthesized in the liver as preproalbumin which has an N-terminal peptide that is removed before the nascent protein is released from the rough endoplasmic reticulum. The product proalbumin is in turn cleaved in the Golgi vesicles to produce the secreted albumin.
