A synthetic peptide corresponding to residues on the N-terminus of human NQO1 was used as an immunogen.

NQO1 (Quinone 1) is a flavoenzyme that catalyzes two-electron reductive metabolism and detoxification of quinones and their derivatives leading to protection of cells against redox cycling and oxidative stress (1). NQO1 is mainly cytosolic but its nuclear presence suggests its involvement in both chemoprevention and bioactivation of DNA-damaging antitumor agents (2). NQ01 may also play a role in the bioactivation of antitumor quinones such as mitomycin C (MMC) and has been proposed to have a protective effect against cancer caused by quinones and their metabolic precursors (3-4). 1.
