Sequence (One Letter Code):
RPYIL
Sequence:
{ARG} {PRO} {TYR} {ILE} {LEU}
Formula:
C32H52N8O7 Neurotensin(9-13) was the shortest partial sequence that fully inhibited tritiated Neurotensin degradation; shortening the C-terminal part of the Neurotensin molecule led to inactive fragments. Cyclic analogues of neurotensin (NT) C-terminal fragments neurotensin(8-13) and neurotensin(9-13) were produced via intramolecular nucleophilic substitution of the Tyr(11) phenoxide anion on a 6-bromohexanoyl side chain substituted at position 8 or 9 and tested for neurotensin receptor binding affinity.
Function:
Neurotensin may play an endocrine or paracrine role in the regulation of fat metabolism. It causes contraction of smooth muscle (By similarity).
Subcellular Location:
Secreted protein (By similarity). Cytoplasmic vesicle; secretory vesicle (By similarity). Packaged within secretory vesicles (By similarity).
Similarity:
Belongs to the neurotensin family. [1] Gierl M. S. Karoulias N. Wende H. Strehle M. and Birchmeier C. et al.
