Description	InvivoChem Cat #:V1143CAS #:145108-58-3Purity >=98% Description: Dexmedetomidine HCl (Precedex), the hydrochloride salt of Dexmedetomidine which is the dexter isomer of medetomidine, is a highly selective and potent alpha-2 adrenoceptor agonist with sedative effects. It reduces anesthetic requirements for patients by providing significant sedation. Dexmedetomidine has a relatively high ratio of alpha2/alpha1-activity (1620:1 as compared with 220:1 for clonidine) and, therefore, is considered a full agonist of the alpha2 receptor. This may result in more potent effects of sedation without unwanted cardiovascular effects from alpha1 receptor activation.
