LIMAA Technologies

LIMAA Technologies (Light-sheet Microscopy and Automated Analysis) is a deep-tech spin-off of Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, founded in December 2022. The company specializes in developing a fully automated platform for tissue-preserving 3D histopathology. Its goal is to enable pathologists to perform fast, precise, and comprehensive analyses of entire tissue samples—without embedding or sectioning—while generating high-resolution 2D and 3D visualizations. The platform also utilizes proprietary, highly specific nanobody-based antibodies known as LIMAAbodies®.

These LIMAAbodies® are specifically designed for rapid and tissue-preserving staining of whole tissue samples. They allow for efficient labeling of biological structures in 3D, are optimized for use in light-sheet microscopy, and offer significantly improved tissue penetration and signal quality compared to conventional antibodies. Thanks to their small size, high stability, and specificity, they are ideally suited for rapid immunofluorescence and multiplex staining—even in complex tissues.

LIMAA Technologies’ multidisciplinary team brings extensive expertise in medicine, biotechnology, pathology, and image analysis. With close ties to Charité and ongoing collaborations with clinical research partners, we continuously develop our antibodies to meet the practical needs of modern laboratory environments.
