They are specialized in obtaining recombinant cytokines and growth factors, antigens, antibodies, derived from E. coli and mammals. Currently, the SARS-CoV-2 products in their portfolio are antigens, antibodies and kits. Reprokine's newest product is the SARS-CoV-2 S Trimer. This is active, artificial protein that bears a close resemblance to the native protein.

The native coronavirus has a cleavage site for furin, which is a ubiquitous endoprotease. The cleavage allows the virus to bind to the ACE2 receptor of a new target cell with its spike protein. Further enzymatic cleavage then initiates membrane fusion.

The engineered S trimer protein was mutated at the furin cleavage site at positions 683 and 685 such that it cannot be cleaved into the primary S1 and S2 domains. The trimer conformation we obtained through the T4 folom trimerization domain. The domain is inserted into the sequence to be expressed by the target cell. After successful expression, the S-monomer proteins spontaneously assemble into the trimer conformation. The obtained conformation was verified chromatographically, as well as by SEC-MALS.
