Bio Background	Dual-specificity phosphatases (DUSPs) constitute a largeheterogeneous subgroup of the type I cysteine-basedprotein-tyrosine phosphatase superfamily. DUSPs are characterizedby their ability to dephosphorylate both tyrosine andserine/threonine residues. They have been implicated as majormodulators of critical signaling pathways. DUSP14 contains theconsensus DUSP C-terminal catalytic domain but lacks the N-terminalCH2 domain found in the MKP (mitogen-activated protein kinasephosphatase) class of DUSPs (see MIM 600714) (summary by Pattersonet al., 2009 [PubMed 19228121]).
