Description
Hepatitis A Virus (HAV) is a non-enveloped icosahedral virion with a single stranded RNA genome. Only one serotype of HAV is known and it does not cross react with Hepatitis B virus. The virus contains four proteins, VP1, VP2, VP3 and VP4. Optimally infected cells collected by centrifugation and the pelleted cells are resuspended in glycine buffer and the cells are disrupted by sonication to release the viral particles. The cellular debris is removed by low speed centrifugation. The clarified cell lysate is pooled and further purified by freon extraction. This antigen can be used as is in a variety of proven immunoassay procedures or may be further purified for specific applications.
