Background	Cathepsin E is an intracellular aspartic protease of the pepsin family that has been reported to be involved in the cleavage of the Swedish mutant of amyloid precursor protein (APP). Due to glycosylation the apparent molecular weight of the dimer is ca.1 kDa under non-reducing conditions. Requires activation prior to use.
