Description: Didanosine (also known as 2?, 3?-dideoxyinosine, ddI, DDI; trade names Videx and Videx EC) is a potent reverse transcriptase inhibitor with an IC50 of 0.49 uM. It is an antiretroviral drug used to treat HIV/AIDS in combination with other medications as part of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART). Didanosine is of the reverse transcriptase inhibitor class and is on the WHO World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines, a list of the most important medication needed in a basic health system.
