Tolazoline is a pulmonary vasodilator indicated used to decrease pulmonary vascular resistance (PVR) in persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN). Tolazoline has moderate alpha-adrenergic blocking activity and has histamine agonist activity. Tolazoline usually reduces pulmonary arterial pressure and vascular resistance.
