HiLyte Fluor 488 hydroxylamine is a carbonyl-reactive labeling dye, which reacts more readily with aldehydes at physiological pH than other primary amine-containing reagents (such as hydrazides and amines). The reaction of HiLyte Fluor 488 hydroxylamine with aldehydes yields oxime ethers, which are stable at physiological conditions. Therefore, HiLyte Fluor 488 hydroxylamine can be used to directly detect aldehydes in proteins and DNA.
