This BMP4 monoclonal antibody is generated from mouse immunized with BMP4 recombinant protein.
Bio Background
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the bonemorphogenetic protein family which is part of the transforminggrowth factor-beta superfamily. The superfamily includes largefamilies of growth and differentiation factors. Bone morphogeneticproteins were originally identified by an ability of demineralizedbone extract to induce endochondral osteogenesis in vivo in anextraskeletal site. This particular family member plays animportant role in the onset of endochondral bone formation inhumans, and a reduction in expression has been associated with avariety of bone diseases, including the heritable disorderFibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva. Alternative splicing in the5' untranslated region of this gene has been described and threevariants are described, all encoding an identical protein.
